Father’s Day Special :)

Sunday, June 17, 2012

Facebook told me today that it is father’s day, so thank you for that friendly reminder. People never forget friend’s birthdays and all the greeting card occasions in the world. And from the title you know, this won’t be a thank you fb, but  a thank you daddy blog.
I’ve never really had my hair grown long until I was in high school. Dad used to cut our hair, so my sister and I were struggling to look cute and pretty with our boy cut. Haha. We didn’t complain that much about our really short hair coz after all, it was really breezy under the heat of the sun. Haha. Dad wasn’t always present during our childhood; he was out there abroad and everywhere working hard to provide for us. Just like any OFW story, he had to sacrifice to be away from us to give us a good future. It wasn’t easy but we got past that stage.

Now, I’m happy that he stayed during my adolescent period. Dad was there to attend the PTA’s. He was my silent cheer leader every time I win math competitions or any awards I get. He never told me “Congratulations”, he didn’t have to. The little simple celebrations at home and how he talks about me with proud to his friends, was enough to let me know that I did something great. We rarely talked and he never imposed house rules and set curfew hours. And I appreciate him for that. He taught me how to be conscientious and how to do good all the time. So, maybe it’s the reason why I tend to be emotional when I get reprimanded by other people. He never scolded me. He never hurt me.
He was my child hood hero. Dad was my very own math Olympian idol. People would say I got my brains from his genes. And I believed them. Haha. He’s the family’s tennis super star. He may not be as good as Roger Federrer or Rafael Nadal, but still, he showed us persistence and determination could win over talent. He’s been playing tennis since I was a baby and recently he finally won Champion. I’m so proud of him. Kuya Jant got that sportsmanship from him. Dad has been really unfair to give Kuya Philip all the artistic genes in the world. Haha. Both of them can do rock and roll. Charm wise, lil sis Kate sure got Dad’s public relations talent. Both of them are really charming and they draw people to them. I remember my friends calling him Daddy Joel. Haha.
Dad taught us how to keep cool. How it is unnecessary to shout to win an argument. He showed us how to have fun. He’s a good family man, a provider and a great source of inspiration. I wouldn’t exchange him for any other Dad. Coz if  I had to go back in time and choose the life I want to live and the people I want to live with, I would still choose my family and my Dad. For me, there could be no better Dad than my Dad. J Happy Father’s Day Dad. I love you.

I'm awksome & adorkable, my cute way of justifying my clumsiness. Born in PH 1989, last wave of people born in the 80's. Never stop learning. I'm a licensed nurse who currently studies law. I'd probably learn pastry making soon but maybe calligraphy lessons sooner. Normal is boring. Most of the people close to me prolly think I'm weird. I dunno. Love is my religion, I'm a low-key agnostic. Jed's greatest fan or biggest headache. hihi

About the Blog

WONOLOGUES is an experimental blog I started in 2008. I coined it by combining WOWO+MONOLOGUES. Wowo is my nickname. I was told that it came from the word "wow". I believed them. I envision this blog to be a wonderful monologue as told by Wowo, just a hodgepodge of all things I find wonderful. I just came back from a year of hiatus. New blog posts weekly.
