Taming - My friend through thick and thicker :)

Friday, December 02, 2011

I am running out of topics to write about in this blog site, so I thought, why not pay tribute (parang heroes lang oh, lol), to my friends who had been part of my life since my awkward stages where I had a boy cut and poor choice of clothes, and saw my metamorphosis (really, haha). This may be a tearjerker, get your hankies ready in there, this is still my blog, so no violent reactions allowed!
Taming, he was born Hermie Obeso, but I started calling him Taming since because it suits him and it sounds cute, right? I actually gave him that nice nickname (sweet huh) then all-of-a-sudden all our other friends from grade school called him Taming, all throughout high school until now that we’ve lost our baby fats that turned into beer bellies and “matured fats”, (haha). That’s very historical for a name. We’ve known each other since second grade; our fathers were “kumpadres”, our siblings were classmates too, so we basically grew up with each other’s family.

He used to be this cute chubby kid with a very charming smile and cheeks teachers and older schoolmates loved to pinch.(while I was this girl, who’d be mistaken for a guy coz of my haircut, who can’t smile a lot and who don’t talk much. I was a pretty boring kid.) He was very adorable. We used to run around the school grounds and ever since I saw him dance, I knew right then that he’d grow up to be gay.(lol) and I really would never have imagined that we’d be friends through it all – through thick and thicker.Hahaha.
We belonged to one fight group back in elementary school where I was Red Lightning and he was Orange Something, (ugh, can’t remember), but we were allies and we’d be playing in the school grounds with other kids who have colored names too (remember FiveMan and Power Rangers?). We’d choreograph fight scenes (losers),haha.
Then I high school, we met three other friends to form TJHIP (Trishia-Jodivie-Hermie-Irose-Persis) and he was our San Chai (we had Meteor Garden pet names), because he was the only gay in the group. We bonded through dancing together in almost every school activity. I wasn’t really a dancer, I moved like a stick but I never got kicked out of the group coz we were best friends. It was a whole lot of fun; we get to bond, exercise, and get plus points in major subjects all together.
Taming and I also had a healthy academic competition. I excelled in Math and English while the rest were his entire forte. I must say, if I was lazy back then, he’d be much lazier but he still got higher grades. He could just do it all, dance all day and perfect a science just like that! He was awesome in science, hands down Taming! And we were all proud of him when he graduated class Salutatorian.
I was saddened when he never got to college but felt relieved when he started to make a joke out of it, saying, “I don’t need to go to school coz I’m that smart”. Well, I could see that he’s happy now and maybe, he doesn’t need a college degree to be Supervisor and succeed in his chosen career.
Funny that had he not been gay, his father would have loved us to end up together like man and wife. Haha. That won’t happen; he likes my boyfriend and planned to steal him! Haha!

I'm awksome & adorkable, my cute way of justifying my clumsiness. Born in PH 1989, last wave of people born in the 80's. Never stop learning. I'm a licensed nurse who currently studies law. I'd probably learn pastry making soon but maybe calligraphy lessons sooner. Normal is boring. Most of the people close to me prolly think I'm weird. I dunno. About the Blog

WONOLOGUES is an experimental blog I started in 2008. I coined it by combining WOWO+MONOLOGUES. Wowo is my nickname. I was told that it came from the word "wow". I believed them. I envision this blog to be a wonderful monologue as told by Wowo, just a hodgepodge of all things I find wonderful. I just came back from a year of hiatus. New blog posts weekly.
