CAVEAT: this post might contain TMI lol
When you see hair, it's time to lay bare.
Thank goodness bushy eyebrows is on trend, I don't have to worry much about my brows.
But, I can't easily get rid of my other hair. (Please leave my crowning glory out of this. It needs another kind of rescuing haha)
For the other "unwanted" hair (lip, underarm, legs, arms and down there), glad that hair removal products and services are within reach.
I've been shaving since high school. Well, for obvious reasons, I think it's the cheapest, most convenient way of removing hair. It's every lazy girls' go-to tool (READ: or when a lazy girl becomes disgusted with her hairy self. lol) But of course, we know the cons of shaving. Thicker hair afterwards. Most often than not, our body parts become itchy as new hair grow. (sigh) I tried warm wax and scalded myself once or twice (when I say once or twice I mean a couple hundred times, hahaha cue Justin Bieber). I tried the cold wax strips but god forgive me, how the fudge do I ever get rid of the wax? And it's painful. Ang sakit besh! huhu And the hair is still there, you have to pull the hair out pa, ouch! huhu
Early this year, my sis suggested that I try threading. Well, it was okay. My hair didn't grow that quick. But it was still painful, I must admit though. I feel that my sensitive skin is tugged to bits and the parts became darker. Tsk. So, what do I do? Nah, I become a gorilla. hehe I just let the hair grow and shave my hair out for special days - beach, birthdays, or every time I have to wear heels with my skirt.
I recently visited Lay Bare Waxing Salon Abreeza Branch with Angel. They opened just last month. Angel wanted us to try the Brazilian wax. And I told her, "Gel, ayoko pong masaktan. Ikaw nalang, sanay ka naman masaktan. (peace Gel).
The Ambiance:
individual cubicles with sliding doors to maintain privacy |
The apple green x pink combo is inviting. The interior looks clean and relaxing. It has a homey feel of sorts. They put emphasis on privacy and hygiene plus comfort. It has a soothing effect. ZEN.

Lay Bar Waxing Salon's very machika staff hehe |
The Staff:
As I said, it felt homey. Parang matagal na kayong magkakilala. Machika ang staff but not to the point of being annoying. They have this process of letting you fill up a form about your profile, hair removal history, allergies, etc. Yung parang form that you have with your dentist.
Hair Removal Procedure:
Lay Bare uses this cold wax. I'm not sure but it smelled like sugar. parang candy, I swear it smelled so good. I was skeptical but lord did that sugary wax pulled my hair! Then, it left no residue. Walang waxy feel. It wasn't pain-free though. May kurot konti. Very tolerable. Parang kagat lang ng langgam. (I'm not sure about the Brazilian wax though, I'm yet to try it pa hehe) Depending on the services you'll avail, the entire procedure won't take long. Maybe at least 15 minutes. (parang kisapmata)
The Price:
It doesn't break the bank. Compared to other hair removal salons or even comparing to some hair removal products and services you can have at home, their price fits the budget. Just the right price na pwede mong i-maintain to be hairless all your life.
And since Abreeza Branch just recently opened, they're offering a Grand Opening Discount of 20 % off all their waxing and threading services until December 11, 2016 only. You can find them at 3rd Floor Expansion Wing of Abreeza Mall.
