My Amazing Race

Monday, December 05, 2011

Picture this, overloaded public utility jeep at midnight. Looks like an “uso-uso” (fast riding jeepneys with supah bass sound system) right? A few minutes after my 8-hour shift as pulmonary/ICU nurse, I experienced hurdles of ultimate challenges. Give me a grand prize for this amazing race I went through.
Challenge#1. Braving through hundreds of shoppers on a mall wide sale to find items for my ultimate Christmas wish list for the upcoming hospital party.
Challenge #2. Walking around for almost two hours of window shopping without really knowing what I am looking for.
Challenge #3. Doing the window shopping alone.
Challenge #4. Having a dilemma between getting on a cab (around 220php), or waiting for a pleasant PUJ (around 25php) to get home.

Challenge #5. Choosing the seemingly innocent jeepney and its humble façade (wrecked, rusty, slow moving, more like a running metal pile on its way to the junk shop) as my ride.
Challenge #6. Surviving the jeepney stops in almost every corner of the route.
Challenge #7. Holding my breath because of other malodorous passengers.
Challenge #8. Trying hard not to mind and get affected by the sweet couple in front of me.
Challenge #9. Keeping myself awake during the entire journey while protecting my bag and my other precious belongings (holdaper alert).
Challenge #10. Being inside a wrecked and slow jeep with a driver who wished to run for presidency, and had everyone ride his jeep, sky’s the limit.
Challenge #11. Hoping to breathe and get ventilation after being squeezed with other passengers like sardines in a very much overloaded jeepney (please note the redundancy).
Challenge #12. Dilemma between #7 and #11.
Challenge #13. Getting home safe without having a fight with the driver and his “manong kundoktor.
Challenge #14. Writing this blog with sleepy eyes and trying hard to write something nice, not rude or evil.
Challenge #15. Accepting the fact that I can’t post this blog because I didn’t load up my broadband.
Challenge #16. Going to sleep sound after the heartbreaking challenges.

I'm awksome & adorkable, my cute way of justifying my clumsiness. Born in PH 1989, last wave of people born in the 80's. Never stop learning. I'm a licensed nurse who currently studies law. I'd probably learn pastry making soon but maybe calligraphy lessons sooner. Normal is boring. Most of the people close to me prolly think I'm weird. I dunno. Love is my religion, I'm a low-key agnostic. Jed's greatest fan or biggest headache. hihi

About the Blog

WONOLOGUES is an experimental blog I started in 2008. I coined it by combining WOWO+MONOLOGUES. Wowo is my nickname. I was told that it came from the word "wow". I believed them. I envision this blog to be a wonderful monologue as told by Wowo, just a hodgepodge of all things I find wonderful. I just came back from a year of hiatus. New blog posts weekly.
